KIX / Kansai Airport International to Domestic Connection Process

Hi, I’m hoping to better understand the process. The official website doesn’t go into as much detail as I would like. (https://www.kansai-airport.or.jp/en/flight/route/transit.html)

My flight is arriving from international on United to KIX, and then ANA/starflyer to Haneda. It has been bought on one united ticket, so I understand it would be a protected connection.

I understand the process is something like this:

1. Arrive at KIX Terminal 1.

2. Pick up all bags. Ie, need to wait for bags to come out

3. Clear Customs and Immigration

4. Exit Customs and Immigration

What happens this? Do I get dumped out to the general KIX departure area (ie, you get to mingle with all the people that just arrived off the street). Concern is that when I left KIX last in november, it was a mess, lines all over, 2+ hour security wait.

Or, hopefully, there is a special “airside” international->domestic path and connection counter that will be less busy – that I don’t exit out into the general/public area?

5. Go to KIX Terminal one 2nd floor to drop bags

6. Clear Security
