My fiance and I will honeymoon in Japan later this year. We want to visit Hokkaido, specifically Kushiro, Lake Akan, and Lake Furen, since we have heard those are great birding spots. However, we don’t plan on driving while we are in Japan, so we’re considering hiring a private driver. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for hiring a private driver in Hokkaido? We are also open to using a taxi service, but we really want to stay away from public transportation because we don’t want to be limited by their schedules.
Our itinerary is:
Day 1:
* Take a morning flight from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Kushiro Airport.
* Stay overnight in Kushiro.
Day 2:
* Drive to Kushiro Marsh.
* Stay overnight in Kushiro.
Day 3:
* Drive from Kushiro to Lake Akan (approximately 2.5 hours).
* Explore Lake Akan and its surroundings, including Ainu Kotan Village.
* Stay overnight near Lake Akan.
Day 4:
* Drive from Lake Akan to Lake Furen (approximately 1.5 hours).
* Explore Lake Furen and nearby Wakoto Peninsula, including Wakoto Field House.
* Stay overnight near Lake Furen.
Day 5:
* Drive to Kushiro Airport.
