After defeating career rival, Hiromu Takahashi in a record 3rd time matchup in the Best of the Super Juniors 31, El Desperado takes the mic and claims, “I don’t want to challenge SHO, I don’t want to challenge anyone until the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 19. That’s right! The juniors will right the ship, the juniors will take center stage in the Tokyo Dome! And Hiromu, old friend, I hope it’s you I see across that ring”. For the next 5 months, Hiromu chases SHO, determined to win the championship and main event the dome against Despy. After pinning SHO in a multi man eliminator match LIJ vs Bullet Club in Korakuen Hall, he lays down the challenge for Sumo Hall and at King of Pro Wrestling, recaptures the Junior crown. The Time Bomb then goes onto Wrestle Kingdom, where he turns away the challenge of BOSJ winner, El Desperado to stand atop the mountain in New Japan.
For the world title, I believe Shingo Takagi defending against Zack Sabre, Jr. would be suitable. Shingo beats Moxley in the G1, Zack wins the tournament in a fantastic final against Shota Umino, and Shingo repeats the feat against Mox to take the belt at Ryogoku in October.
Just feel at this moment that the junior rivalry of Hiromu vs Despy is the strongest option they have for a main event, since the world title scene has been shaky for largely one year.
