Traveling for 3+ weeks in japan this june. Im going to be traveling around a lot (most of the days tbh), mostly with train i think but sometimes bus too.
I will be traveling with backpack. Im a bit limited in choice though, i have one that is 65L and one that is 45L. I don’t think i will be bringing a lot of stuff with me (clothes for about 7 days, towel, hygien products, 1 extra pair of shoes, 1 pair of trousers, sweater).
Should I go with the smaller one? I like the bigger one better (its more practical) and if i want to bring stuff with me home (gifts etc.) i might need some extra space. The big one is certainly compressible to a degree, and i will also bring a really small backpack for day trips and just walking about.
My concern with the big backpack is that it would be too inconvenient to bring on trains and busrides. I read somewhere that some buses have limits on the size of bags you can bring…
Also, is it usually possible to bring your backpack to temples/shrines/gardens, or leave them at the reception/entrance? Whenever i go to a new city i dont want to have to go to the hotel right away to drop off my stuff… I know you can use luggage storage boxes in many train stations but they look quite small and i would honestly just prefer to be able to bring my stuff with me sometimes.
Any ideas/comments?
