Been around Tokyo for 10 days now and wanted to share my thoughts thus far.
Don’t stress too much, have fun, ask for help, just let your trip happen!
From transit tickets to locations to Suica cards etc etc… it’s all way easier once you’re here than you’ll build it up to be.
Obviously do your research and planning but don’t paralyze yourself or stress yourself out over all the details. The airport station is more chill than you think, you may get lost or turnt around but you’re on an adventure. Shinjuku station is both crazy and way calmer than I ever imagined. Trust google maps, give yourself some time and grace, don’t be afraid to make a wrong turn… I promise it’ll work out and you’ll get to where you need to be.
Way more places take cards than advertised, still have cash but the money thing is pretty intuitive.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help! People will help you and do so so friendly. My wife caught a litl cold when we were first here, everyone at the drug store was happy to help and take their time with a language barrier. Same goes in train stations, etc.
All in all, enjoy yourself! The info you need is already in here. Get yourself educated be respectful and have a blast, this is an amazing place. I hope this helps ease some people’s nerves and just helps ya let loose. Cheers!
