Help with Itinerary – Hokkaido and Tokyo with 12 year old son

I’m (43m) going solo with my 12-year-old son. I’ve been to Japan 5 times (and lived in Asia), but never to the North so I figured that we’d explore a new part of Japan and then spend 4 nights in Tokyo. I travel super-light and my son is a good eater and explorer. He loves baseball, video games, grilled meats and hot tubs.

Here’s where I am. I have an AMEX Platinum so the Tokyo Conrad is surprisingly reasonable.

What would you recommend for Wednesday/Thursday/Friday? Any must-sees in Hokkaido? No theme parks!
