  1. Its ok Id rather have a sushi boat or a set of stairs which was really cool.

  2. The way the quality of the sushi looks seems to match the quality of the presentation…..strange, weird, and amateurish.

With that said, I love me some basic rolls, and bring on all the salmon.

  3. I like it

That way no one is angry at me for taking up the whole table

  4. I’d kind of like that if for some reason it was intended to be eaten in the top-down order, but that’s not how you should “course” sushi

  5. While it isn’t traditional presentation of especially pretty, I do think it could be a decent work around for small tables. Decorating the plates with sauce designs or something could make it better.

  6. It’s very amateur-ish as another commenter pointed out… the rolls have way too much rice, and that fish:rice ratio on the nigiri is insane. Presentation can mask a lot of quality flaws when done correctly.

  7. Honestly thought this was on r/wewantplates or r/stupidfood for a second lol

  8. Tbh as much as this feels wrong to look at lol it seems like it’s good for space saving on the table.

  9. This is why you don’t go shopping for your restaurant dishes at a garage sale

  10. When I see this kind of set up it makes me think more tea sandwiches and afternoon English tea. Not so much sushi.

It could work if the plates were loaded with more sushi and in a circular pattern. Different but interesting. As long as the sushi is good that’s all I’m concerned about lol.

  11. The plating looks terrible. I rather wait and get them served plate by plate if they want it to be eaten in steps. The sushi doesn’t look too nice, especially the 2nd from the top looks very squeezed together and even the rolls seem to have merged into each other. I could not think of any time where I thought that sushi needs sesame and honestly I would not ever want that. The rolls themselves look like they’re all the same too, especially as most include cream cheese which can become quite overwhelming. Really not a place I would order sushi.

  12. The top plate that doesn’t fit correctly looks ridiculous besides the fact they’ve served it like high tea.

  13. i dunno i kind of like it, works with a small table and everything is within reach for everyone. a lot of people here are complaining about the sushi itself not the plating, if it were high quality sushi i would find this way of plating interesting. on a bigger table this wouldn’t work. on a large table you’d want something like a lazy susan like you see at some chinese restaurants.

  14. I’d guess it’s for saving table space. Maybe not traditional but sometime you need to trade form for function.

  15. Honestly if you have a full party the table can fill up pretty fast with plates of food… i think this is a good idea to more properly use the available space

  16. I like the idea, but not THIS PRESENTATION.. I SEE a 3 plate stand. Straight line, the center plate higher than the end plates. Showing 3 smaller plates in an interesting design. This design…. it looks too unstable and could easily fall over.

  17. I haven’t seen a display plate like that since the early 2000’s. A restaurant I worked at used to do an appetizer platter on that.

  18. Teeeeell me they serve miso soup in tea cup, that would be a fishy afternoon tea party
