I was teaching english, quit and flew back to the usa for a remote tech job. I still have my instructor visa and it’s ending soon. I am under the impression that there is no way i can renew my visa while keeping my remote job in usa. (Unless i get job in japan to sponsor). Any ideas on how to keep my visa?
If not, no worries. I figured I would just consult the order of japan life before turning in my zairyu card.

My understanding is that when you leave a job, you legally must notify the immigration office that you’ve left your job, and then you have a three month grace period to find a new job in the same visa category (with some flexibility, and this grace period can be extended if you’re using the Japanese unemployment office to look for work).
I think even if you find another job in Japan, you’re going to have a lot of issues to work out with the immigration office.
