Selling used items online

Does anyone out there use sites to sell unneeded used items? I was trying to decide between Mercari and Yahoo! Shopping, but I’m still not clear on which might be better yet. If you use either of them (or any others), what do you recommend and why?

  1. Both. Slightly different user bases, so better chance of selling when you use both.

  2. We should start a reddit sub for that. Like mercari but for us sophisticated reddit superstuds

  3. Mercari all the way.

I sold a bunch of my rubbish through all those years there.

clothes, pc parts that was already in the bin, books, keychains, and everything lol

  4. I use both. As someone said, different user bases. I think it’s against the rules but I know some sellers post the same item on both platforms, and thus make rules like you must comment first before purchasing so that I can delete the other post etc.

I found Mercari to be a little more female oriented and Yahoo to be more male oriented. As a platform, Mercari is “better” but it also comes with stuff like people commenting for discounts and what not. Yahoo I found is more like place a bid/buy no need for more.

If I had to choose, I like Mercari more, but it also depends on what you’re selling.

  5. Mercari for cheap stuff.
Yafuoku if you want to get ‘market’ value for your item (laptops, smartphones, DSLRs etc.). It may be better to built some rep with Yafuoku by purchasing some items first and get positive ratings from the sellers.
