Suggestions on NISA brokerages which can handle long names properly (and a question about MooMoo)

Hello there Japan Finance community, I’m reaching out here because I need some help regarding choosing brokerages for NISA as I’m planning to do the 新NISA that’s been going on since the start of this year (2024).

Like some of you, I am also a person with a middle name. Combining all of my names (first, middle, last) will net a length of more than 17 or even 20 characters in total. I know that I’m not a Japanese national, so I have to do the paper application anyways, but before that, you have to fill in the “pre” application form and that name will not fit in the form.

Brokerages that I have tested are:

* Rakuten (have a character limit of 18 characters)
* SBI (have a character limit of 17 characters, and I think I also have to somehow create a SBI Neobank and SBI Shinsei)
* Monex (have a character limit of 20 characters)

The background of this post is that I *really prefer* not to cut my name in different places and cause more headaches if possible. Also, I know that you can get free points by using a credit card that is associated with the brokerage, but I don’t really care about this as my name is very long and the pain to fix it is probably worth more compared to the points that I would receive 😂

I’ve read stories of having to work around names by having to do back-and-forth calling with the customer support and/or mailings. My Japanese is not very strong, so I would like to avoid having to do phone calls if possible. If it is unavoidable, then I guess I can do it.

I’m currently looking into [MooMoo Securities](https://www.moomoo.com/jp/invest/newnisa) (I know the parent company is potentially a part of Tencent), as it looks really good by the cheap fees and the fully online application even for foreigners. As of the time of writing, this brokerage supports growth NISA (成長) but does not support regular NISA (つみたて) yet. [They’re planning to do it by this fall](https://zuuonline.com/archives/283210) if I’m reading it correctly from the news.

My questions:

1. I don’t know whether MooMoo has a name length restriction though. For MooMoo users, do you remember whether they actually have a name length restriction?
2. Is there any securities / brokerages in Japan which support long names without me having to “manually butcher” my name in different places, or is this unavoidable? It also would be really great if the 成長 part of the NISA could be used with 米国株 (I think SBI, Monex, and Rakuten all supports this).
3. Do you think it’s better for me to wait for MooMoo until they release the つみたてNISA, take a leap of faith and register the 成長NISA first with them while waiting for the つみたてNISA, or should I just YOLO and butcher my name with other brokerages, if (2) is unavoidable?

Other suggestions are also greatly appreciated. Thank you as always for your kind help!
