Finding project operations/management jobs

Hi all! I’m interested in moving to japan but I’m not sure the best way to find a job that offers work visa sponsorships.

For background, I have a bachelor’s in political science and a master’s in information science with a focus on archives and records management. Both degrees are from US universities. My work history includes experience working as an assistant librarian in a public library, an assistant archivist for a museum, a project operations manager for a state agency handling storm recovery, and working as a grants manager for a federal agency.

While I have applied for US federal jobs in japan, preference is usually given to former military personnel, military spouses, and those already residing in the country so that route is unlikely and can take multiple years to process if it does happen.

One is issue I would have, other than finding a job, is that I don’t have any Japanese language skills. I’m hoping to enroll in a language school when I get to japan or possibly move to japan and go to a language school for a period to get some basic skills first then transition to finding a job. I currently have a nicr savings built up so I could afford to live in Japan for a bit without working and it wouldn’t be a problem.

If anyone has any recommendations or advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
