Hi, gonna be first-time visitor from Europe w/my brother. We plan to stay in Hakodate (2 nights), Sapporo (4 nights), Kyoto (2 nights), Tokyo (4 nights).
Are 2 medium carry-ons (8kg, max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm) and 2 medium backpacks enough to pack everything in? (clothes, bathroom essentials, phone essentials)?
Also are there storage places in Hakodate/Sapporo/Kyoto just from morning till evening?

Laundry options are plentiful and accessible in Japan pack less clothes than you’d need and plan to do laundry a few times
We just got back from a 2 week trip. We brought 1 small backpack and 1 carryon suitcase per person. I booked mine fairly full (probably 3/4 full) and I honestly overpacked. I had clothes that I didn’t wear. UNIQLO is everywhere so you can always buy more stuff if you need.
It’s definitely enough if you do your laundry. You don’t need to bring bathroom essentials as most hotels provide it for free, or you can buy at a konbini or pharmacy. In saying that, do bring a large suitcase if you’re looking to do some shopping – there’s lots of cool Japanese stuff you may want to bring back home.
