What are the characteristics of a great example sentence?

We’ve all seen terrible example sentences, for example sentences that are too long or too short or way too complicated, but what are the characteristics of a great example sentence?

To me:
– They’re never longer than they ought to be
– They’re somehow memorable
– They don’t contain words that are rarer than the target word itself
– The target word can’t be replaced by another similar word without changing the meaning of the sentence (e.g. I like red cars > I like blue cars vs. Red is the color of love)
