First Time Visa Change Application Immigration (Saitama Branch)

Hello everyone!

I currently have about one month left on my student visa, but have gathered everything (hopefully) for what I need to apply for a 配偶者ビザ(my husband is 日本人). I’ve done a similar process before during covid (was able to get a temporary visa to visit my then boyfriend, now husband), but going to the Japanese embassy in America was less worrying than I imagine immigration will be…

Timing is sort of good and bad. My visa expires towards the end of June, but I will be moving in to a new apartment with my husband the first weekend in June. Therefore, all of my visa application papers etc will still have our old address on it. We’ve talked with city hall and they said we will have two weeks to submit that we changed addresses, but I don’t think I have the time to wait for all the papers I’ll need again for my visa application, so I am planning on turning in my visa application first week of June, telling immigration I am currently moving but not able to get my updated address on any of the papers yet, but when I do have them, I will send them to immigration (hopefully by email or mail to save another trip…).

Are there any faults in this plan? I’m worried on making sure I turn in my application on time.

Also, if anyone has any tips for immigration, especially the branch in Shimoochiai, Saitama, I would appreciate it! Planning on visiting early in the week, lined up way before they open of course.

Thank you!
