This photograph showcases a luxurious lodge in the secluded area of Okukinu in Tochigi Prefecture, a true hidden gem accessible only on foot or by shuttle bus. The region consists of just four hot springs. To reach this lodge, we traveled nearly an hour on an unpaved mountain road by shuttle bus from the parking area. Despite the remote location, the lodge offers a spacious and well-appointed room with a BBQ grill and an open-air bath on the balcony. The atmosphere was surreal, highlighted by an extraordinary traditional performance, and even the dog “MOCO-san” was charming.
