Was wondering if there’s any JP dual citizens here that moved to Japan as an adult.
*When going to city hall to register an address and getting a My Number card, do they ask about what jobs, or what purpose, I will have?
I have a family member that’s been helping me research the protocol for all of this, and they’re saying that city hall will require me to tell them my reasons for being there…?
I have a Japanese passport, and will have a copy of my koseki with me.
I’m mostly moving there to continue and complete my distance learning degree that I’m currently working on, and then eventually looking for a job several months from now.
Reading through this subreddit – it doesn’t seem like they ask those things, but I’m not too sure because it’s mostly foreigners writing about their experience.

Also, if I want to register my address under my relative’s home address while I slowly look for my own place to live – is that as easy as the relative coming with me to city hall and showing them their ID?
