I didn’t realize till after my trip will coincide with the matsuri. i planned to stay in gion anyways. this seems both a blessing and a curse for a first time visit. and 3 of my 4 days there will be during the yoiyama days.
i wanted to get a feel for how the city will be. i’d like to spend one day on the yoiyama. but use the rest to go see temples, shops and culture around the area.
should i shift my trip to be mostly outaide the festival because it will have a negative impact via travel and crowds? or will it enhance an already great trip and i should leave my days as is?
