As the heading says, has anyone got experience using [searchassociates.com](https://searchassociates.com) for finding a teaching job at an international school in Japan? Wondering if it’s worth the upfront cost. I have a bachelors in teaching and 4 years of experience, but have been out of the teaching scene for 1.5 years now.

The way legit recruiting works, in any field, anywhere in the world, is that the *hiring company* pays a fee to the recruiter. Any recruiter that charges a fee to the *applicant* (Like SA does) is automatically in the “scam” category.
Plus the fact that every school on the list of SA schools in Japan has their own hiring page. I cannot for the life of me figure out any benefits to paying SA to forward your resume to them

Frankly that’s going to be a bit of a hard sell. Competition for legit international schools in Japan is *fierce*. With only a bachelor’s degree you might have a hard time.
Do you still have a valid teaching license in your home country? That’s one of the key things schools look for.
Maybe ask in r/internationalteachers instead. But yes, I’ve seen a few people who got jobs through SA / Schrole. Others, like me, got by applying directly from their school site.
