Shinkansen Ticket without IC card + Skyliner via klook

Hi guys I'm travelling to Tokyo and Kyoto in 2 weeks and I'm trying to purchase Shinkansen tickets online on the smartex website so I can just pick it up there and avoid queueing up to buy a ticket on the day.

I've seen multiple post about getting through the shinkansen gates with and IC card. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a Suica or Passmo when I get to Narita airport as I've heard there's been shortages. Do I need an IC to get through the gates or can I just use my paper shinkansen ticket that I picked up from a machine alone?

I'm also thinking of purchasing a round trip Keisei skyliner ticket + 72 hr travel pass on Klook. The skyliner is for getting from Narita to Tokyo and from Shinagawa to Narita (on the way back). Has anyone done this before? Do I just pick up the skyliner tickets for both ways at the airport then use them both ways without any extra steps?

Also any tips on using public transport without an IC card for Tokyo and Kyoto? I think the JR pass are a bit pricey so just planning to keep buying the 72 hr pass one for Tokyo. How do I get around in Kyoto?

If anyone can please help me I'm a bit overwhelmed and confused. Thanks in advance!
