I am really excited for this match and have wanted this match and story to play out for a while. It should be how Umino ascend to the main event. There are various ways this match could play out besides the outcome. Here are some of my thoughts.
1a) Moxley Wins a competitive and entertaining match and shows respect to Umino after.
The most likely and lazy outcome and does the least for Umino.
1b) Moxley wins in a brutal/near squash like fashion.
Similar to the Rainmaker shock and ideally similar to Ospreay vs Omega 1. Moxley could dominate the more Naive shota with brutal offence with a limited amount of hope spots for Umino. Leading to a story where Umino needs to fin his edge and himself in order to succumb his master in later matches. Potentially having to earn it through beating other BCC members.
1c) Moxley wins a competitive match with a veteran manoeuvre.
Similar to Jeff Hardy vs Triple H No Mercy 2008. The match would be competitive with hope spots for Umino but Moxley can't keep him down with conventional means and ends up having to out smart his student.
1d)Moxley has to keep Umino down with underhanded tactics.
Similar to Austin vs The Rock WM17, Bryan vs Styles 2018, Bobby Roode vs James Storm 2011. Moxley throws everything he can at Umino but can't keep him down. He desperately wants to retain his title and thus has to resort to breaking the rules and his relationship with Umino to keep it. This turns the rest of the feud into more of a revenge tale.
2a) Umino wins a competitive match.
Although I would love to have Umino as champ. Him just simply winning the match would be pretty boring.
2b) Umino gets a flash fluky win
Similar to Tsuruta vs Misawa 1990. The match is competitive if not heavily in the favour of Moxley. But Umino gets flash pinfallto win and become the champion. This would be a great moment but ideal. It doesn't really make Umino look that strong as your new top champ. Also there would need to be at least 1 follow up match and if you want more of a struggle in the feud you would think Moxley would win at least 1 which would mean a hot potato in which Moxley gets the belt back.
2c) Umino has to get hardcore to beat Moxley
This would be ideal for their subsequent matches as the feud develops. But as Moxley takes him to the brink and likely brings in plunder himself, Umino could also show an edge and a killer instinct and give it back to Moxley.
3) A draw
This could be tied in with some of the other story points listed above just with a time limit draw. This would definitely mean more matches and can make Umino look really strong but telling the story that he isn't there yet. But it is unlikely, this card already has a lot of matches.
I know most will instantly say any result that Umino wins as they hate Moxley and want to see him drop the title ASAP. I expect him to retain and drop the belt back to Naito at Dominion.
Also, I hope it doesn't get too hardcore as we will have the Kidd vs Kingston match which I believe is scheduled to immediately precede this match.
