Is it worth selling old video games in Japan?

I’ve got dozens of GC and Wii games, a psp and games with no casing. How much is it worth.

  1. I went through your detailed post and my estimate is that your video games are worth tree fiddy yen

  2. Went to Akihabara to sell old Pokemon games in mint condition in their boxes which they sell around 6~8k ¥ a piece. They offered me 800¥ per game IF it’s in perfect condition… So if you wanna sell, I’d avise you to sell to another person rather than a shop.
    Hope that can help !

  3. I just stopped by a hardoff this morning and checked out the junk section. there was like a dozen famicoms, gamecubes, controllers, PS1s, superfamicoms, and other trash being sold for 100-500 yen tops.

There was boxes full of game cartridges that were probably also around 100s of yen if not less. (I didn’t even look at those).

Yes, you can take your stuff to hardoff and they may give you 100-500 yen for everything. Maybe.

  4. Post them on Mercari. It’s more trouble to post an ad for each, but you won’t get much for them in Hard Off etc even if they’re rare. But with Mercari you might find someone searching for exactly the game you have and they might be willing to pay more.

  5. Unless it is some rare collectible game, hardoff and second hand stores will only give between 20-50 yen for no case games of that generation.

  6. I have a ton of old games as well as an old Wii, an Xbox 360, and a PS3. None of them seem to have enough value to make it worthwhile hauling them off somewhere. I’m thinking about using them to open a museum instead.

  7. If its a Japanese GameCube and you’re near Kanagawa, you can send me a PM, I’m in the market for one
