2 week itinerary check – First time for my brother (38M) and me (34M)

I have moved Nara to a Kyoto day instead.

Just thought I'd share my itinerary since sometimes I think I am either packing too much or too little in a day, although generally this is used as a guide but we can easily just deviate from the plan if something unexpected happens.

Day 1 (Fri 21 June)

Arrival HND 11:00 – Tokyo – Shibuya

  • Airport – Suica Card / Sim card etc.
  • Shibuya Crossing / Hachiko Statue
  • Checking out the below for future reference on shopping etc. and/or any necessities we forgot to pack
    • Uniqlo
    • Taito Arcades
    • Mega Done Quitjote
    • Shibuya Parco / Pokemon / Nintendo Store
    • Loft / Tokyu Hands / Other

Day 2 (Sat 22 June)

Tokyo – Shinjuku

  • Light morning activity
  • Todobashi Meda Store / Batting Cage
  • Cross Shinjuku Vision
  • Tokyu Kabukicho Tower
  • Godzilla Head
  • Omoide Yokocho
  • Figuring out how Shinjuku station works for Hakone trip

Day 3 – Hakone (Sun 23 June)

  • Shinjuku Station > Hakone-Yumoto Station (08:00 – 09:30)
  • Walk > Snack > Amazake Chaya (bus) > Tea > Walk (09:30 – 12:00)
  • Shrine (maybe)
  • Pirate Boat (12:10 – 12:45 or 12:40 – 13:15)
  • Ropeway (Egg/Ice cream) (13:15 – 15:30)
  • Ryokan + Onsen
  • Open Air Museum / Gora Park

Day 4 – Osaka (Mon 24 June)

  • Arrive at Osaka station (14:00)
  • Casually explore Osaka/Dotonbori (food)

Day 5 – Himeji+Kobe (Tue 25 June)

  • Osaka Station > Himeji Station (08:30 – 10:00)
  • Himeji Castle and Koko-en Garden (10:45 – 12:30)
  • Himeji Station > Kobe Station (12:45 – 13:30)
  • Wakkoqu Kobe Beef Lunch (13:45 – 14:45)
  • Nunobiki Herb Garden Ropeway / Waterfall (15:00 – 16:30)
  • Meriken Park / Kobe Sign (17:30 – 18:30)
  • Kobe Station > Nagai Station (18:30 – 19:45)
  • TeamLab Botanical Garden (20:00 – 21:00)

Day 6 – Osaka (Wed 26 June)

  • Nintendo Land + Express tickets (08:30 – 15:30)
  • Casually explore Osaka/Dotonbori (food)

Day 7 – Osaka > Kyoto (Thu 27 June)

  • Miyazaki-Kan – Beef Lunch course (11:00 – 12:00)
  • Osaka > Kyoto via Kyo-Train
  • Casually explore Kyoto (check out chef knife shop)

Day 8 – Kyoto (Fri 28 June)

  • Gojo Station > Saga-Arashiyama Station (08:15 – 09:00)
  • Taxi to Nenbutsuji (09:00 – 09:30)
  • Snack + walk down to Arashiyama (09:30 – 10:30)
  • Arashiyama Bamboo Forest + Tenryu-Ji (10:30 – 12:00)
  • Monkey Park (12:00 – 13:30)
  • Ryoan-Ji + Kinkaku-Ji (14:45 – 17:00) – including walking/travel
  • Dinner + walk past Nilo Castle (17:00 – 19:30)
  • Bar / rest

Day 9 – Kyoto (Sat 29 June)

  • Nishiki Market
  • Hanamikoji Street / Ninenzaka / Sannenzaka / Hokanji-Pagoda / Kiyomizu-Dear
  • Casually explore Kyoto

Day 10 – Kyoto > Nara > Kyoto (Sun 30 June)

  • Day trip to Nara in the morning
  • Kyoto Station > Yamato-Saidaiji Station > Kintetsu-Nara Station (09:00 – 09:40)
  • Nara Park / Todai-Ji / Lunch (10:00 – 14:00)
  • Kintetsu-Nara Station > Kyoto (14:30 – 15:15)
  • Explore Kyoto

Day 11 – Kyoto > Tsumado (Mon 01 July)

  • Kyoto Station > Nakatsugawa Station (10:00 – 11:30)
  • Walk Nakatsugawa > Magome-Juku (11:30 – 13:30)
  • Lunch and explore Magome-Juku (13:30 – 14:30)
  • Walk Magome-Juku > Tsumago-Juku (14:30 – 16:30)
  • Ryokan + dinner + explore Tsumado (16:45 onwards)

Day 12 – Tsumado > Tokyo (Tue 02 July)

  • Travel back to Tokyo
  • Capsule hotel
  • Shinjuku area
  • Shibuya Sky

Day 13 – Tokyo (Wed 03 July)

  • Casually explore Tokyo
  • Potential half-day trip to Lake Kawaguchiko / Pagoda

Day 14 – Tokyo (Thu 04 July)

  • TeamLabs Planet (09:00)
  • Toyosu Market – nearby sushi restaurant
  • Gundam
  • Art Aquarium

Day 15 – Tokyo (Fri 05 July)

  • Shopping / Hajime no Ippo gym / Asakusa
  • Senso-Ji
  • Tokyo Skytree

Day 16 – Tokyo (Sat 06 July)

  • TeamLabs Borderless (09:00)
  • Shopping / anything we missed

Day 17 – Tokyo (Sun 07 July)

  • Departure 13:00
