  1. If I remember well it’s Shichimi togarashi. It’s a mix of spices (chili pepper with sesame seeds and some other stuff). You can add it on top of noodles or soup.

  2. I’m pretty sure that’s *Shichimi Togarashi*, a mix of chili pepper and other things (usually *sansho* pepper, sesame seed, seaweed, citrus peel etc). It translates roughly to “Seven Spice Pepper”.

You use it mostly whenever you want a little extra ‘kick’ at table as you would any other ground red pepper, but it has citrus and nut accents from the sesame and citrus peel that make it a bit more flavorful. I like it on curry rice, miso soup, and other things like that, because I *do* like my hot stuff.

  3. I use it when frying rice and leftovers, in my noodle soups.

And anywhere else I feel it might fit in. It’s not super spicy, but has a nice mix of flavors that goes well with most things.

  4. EVERYTHING!

Just sprinkle a little on top of something like you would a chili sauce.

    It’s the shizz.

  5. This is japanese tajín i swear. This is crack. I even put it in refried beans. It’s such a godly combo. It’s also amazing just on rice tho. It’s so good in everything. I’ve even put it on fruit.. yes.. i was high.. but it was kinda good. Well.. the seaweed didn’t go with the melon LOL

  6. I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, it’s the spicy orange powder you see on sushi. Throw it in soup, fried rice/ rice, sushi, etc.

  7. Shichimi Togarashi. You can use it on pretty much whatever you want, keeping in mind that it’s a little spicy. The last time I used it was on Soba, and it was really good.

  8. Like other have said, it’s shichimi togarashi (also called Nanami Togarashi to get around superstition). It’s a blend of japanese peppers, orange peel, seaweed, sesame and some other things.

Personally, because of the orange peel, I don’t really like it much myself, preferring regular Ichimi Togarashi instead, but otherwise, it practically goes on everything the same way we use black pepper, or mixed peppercorns, in the US

  9. You sprinkle it in your eyes in order to provoke the appropriate amount of tears when looking at sushi back home.

  10. I usually add it in soy sauce instead of wasabi cuz I think it tastes better that way

  11. I put that on everything that benefits from a fruity fire kick… maybe not my morning coffee… wouldn’t suggest that… maybe I try now

  12. Make bagels, apply like “everything bagel” seasoning. Makes for a KILLER egg sandwich.
