Hi. A friend and i are going to Hokkaido and plan to get a 7 day rail pass. we are going to spend 2 nights in Sapporo then go north to furano/biei then 2 days in asahikawa/daisetsuzan national park. After that however, we are planning to go east on the rail to more remote parts. we won't have a car, and given the limited trains we will probably have to spend one night in the Abashiri area, and then go south to either akan national park or to shitsugen national park by kushiro. Basically, we have 3/4 more days after asahikawa and we don't know what to do . we are ok with spending a lot of time on trains and will enjoy the outdoors but does anyone have any itinerary suggestions that are relatively accessible via rail/public transport? — any recommendations for abashiri, akan-national park, or kushiro/shitsugen national park?
