My name is Siam / สยาม. I have no Japanese decent, but am half Thai. I have heard foreigners of East Asian descent can get their name written in Kanji as opposed to Katakana, but I don’t know how for this reaches. Im pretty sure it’s only countries that had the Chinese script, but I don’t think even Vietnamese people can write their name in Kanji. I just wanted to check here since I don’t want to disrespect the culture.
I can also write it as サヤーム, but like the idea of keeping my name’s meaning. Most translations sound similar anyways (compared to John turning into Hans or Giovanni at least). I’d probably use this form with people I am close with since it is closer to my actual pronunciation.

simply put, there is no need to write your name in kanji
You can use any method to write your name. No one is going to say “Why are you stealing our Knaji?” If someone does, they are the problem, not you.
