My partner and I just pulled the trigger on flights to Japan from the UK! My lifelong dream is coming true!
We’re flying out on 14th December 2024 and returning 3rd January 2025, so it will be a wintery holiday and include Christmas and New Year’s Eve. (We are going to have KFC for Christmas) 😂
We’ll do 5 nights in tokyo, then spend 6 nights in Osaka, 4 nights in Kyoto and then 5 nights in Tokyo before returning home.
So far we have planned day trips to visit: Tokyo Disney, Universal Studios Osaka, Sanrio Puroland, Himeji Castle, Nara Deer Park,
The other days in tokyo we’ll explore Akihabara, Asakusa, Kabukicho, golden gai etc visiting anime shops, temples, shrines and other hot spots like Yoyogi park.
Whilst staying in Kyoto we will travel to Nara park, take part in the samurai experience, visit Gion District and visit more temples.
Osaka of course we will visit Dotonbori and universal studios but we need a few more suggestions of things to do whilst here besides the “eat lots of street food” as we will be doing that anyway.
Once back to Tokyo we aim to spend new years eve at Disneyland (my girlfriend loves it), and tie up loose ends of anything else we want to do such as Shibuya Sky, a love hotel, hopefully a hip hop/jazz night somewhere before flying home.
Bearing in mind it will be the middle of winter, can anyone advise on any fun/romantic/japanese things to do as a couple whilst we are there that I haven’t mentioned above?
I am aware businesses can shut down in the first few days of the new year so any advice or recommendations here would be great too as we don’t want to end up with 4 days that we cannot do anything except wander the streets!
Inb4 “why did u book a winter trip”, we get the time off work as our companies close for Christmas and New Years but still take it from our holiday entitlement.
