Tons of new Pokémon merch being thrown away in Ikebukro.

Rode my bike past twice over the day. Was this a trap to catch nerds stealing?

  1. Japan’s pop culture industry really doesn’t seem to understand that the fandoms of their products exist beyond Japan’s borders. There are foreigners who would pay for that stuff.

  2. It looks like a bunch of empty boxes of Pokemon cards to me. No clue about the anime stuff though.

  3. if it’s in their gomi pile…doesn’t that mean they are fair game?!!😀

  4. That’s the new Pokémon TCG set, those must be opened/sold booster boxes, mainly from whales. I remember being in Akihabara when the Oshi no Ko set of Weiss Schwarz released and there were piles of bags of booster pack wrappers.

  5. Those boxes look very much opened and cracked; probably from a new release event. Unless you really value the empty booster boxes and pack wrappers, it’s just recyclable garbage.

  6. Game centres and stuff just grab the good cards and put them up as prizes, always wondered where the rest goes

  7. Does Japan have laws against trash picking? I know trash rules are pretty strict but I haven’t heard about that one.

  8. Just picked up a bunch of them, and they are not empty boxes. All are opened already, packed full of cards.
