Oh Japan. You never cease to amaze me.

With your lack of decency and blatant disrespect of others. Because wtf.

  1. It must be exhausting to think that everything and everyone is either a racist or a -phobe at first glance. Instead of researching it like a grown adult, your first thought (hopefully it was) was to see it as discriminatory when that’s not the case at all. Please grow up.

  2. FYI the milk chocolate flavor doesn’t blend as well as the banana and berry flavors.

  3. Everything but the mouth is fine. And the mouth is the aesthetic choice for all their characters. Just an unfortunate clash of styles. No malice, I imagine.

  4. I saw this sticker on the train door this week. I was like WTF? 😅

Now that I’ve seen the YouTube excerpt thanks to a fellow Redditor, it makes sense.

  5. Japan doesn’t have the best track record of PC representations of minorities but this is obviously a very silly cartoon. South Park, King of the Hill, and Family Guy all have characters that represent racial stereotypes. I mean, just think about the way Asian characters are specifically portrayed in those shows. I think we should all have a sense of humor about ourselves but that’s just me and how you feel is how you feel. At the very least, if you feel this is an offensive representation of people it is most certainly not a Japan-specific problem.

  6. Lol anything happening in the universe is always about the states to americans even in Japan. Always. Absolutely crazy that this is somewhat triggering…Get help

  7. So there’s this whole thing about weight lifters in Japan talking about protein all the time (and they use the English word). Thus the cartoon people linked and why these guys are on a pag of protein powder.

Look at the gym trainer in Aggrestuko. Same thing. He litereally only ever says the word “protein”.

  8. Love the anti-doping bit for the added reassurance. Like your average gym goer buying this is gonna compete in the Olympics 😂

  9. A little more context, the white/Japanese characters in the JR commercial also have the same red lips. (Would post a link if I could find one) It’s just the style, not racist intent.

  10. All the characters have the large square lips. It isn’t anti-Black or mockery of Black people.

  11. Don’t let this guy find out what symbol we use for buddhist temples on maps.

  12. “Oh, no! I am so outraged, and ready to save the poor and oppressed!” “Thank you Captain America!”
