Changing job in japan

I have an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa that expires in 2026. I was working for an IT company in my home country, and the same company sent me to Japan for a project in 2023, with the assignment period initially set to last until December of this year. Due to certain reasons, I now need to return to my home country. I am considering changing jobs in Japan, as I prefer not to return to my home country due to its current situation. I have received a few job offers from companies in Japan and plan to return to my home country in July, then join a new company in Japan in September.

I wanted to ask if there will be any issues with my visa when I return to Japan in September. Can my current company revoke my visa or inform immigration that I am no longer employed by them? I understand that I should inform immigration within three months of leaving my current job, but since I am returning to my home country for only a month, will there be any issues with my visa when I come back to Japan?

  1. The question is, when will be your last day employed by your current company? I don’t see that info anywhere in your post, but that’s all that matters.

  2. AFAIK your company can’t revoke visa status unless you are doing something illegal, and your company reports it to the immigration. Please also note that you have to report to immigration within 2 weeks if you quit your company and unemployed. You have 3 months to find a new job, or your visa will be void unless you have strong reason for being unemployed.
When you go back to your country, fill the re-entry permit form and go back to Japan within a year.

For more specific details you should ask immigration directly instead of asking in reddit subs.
