9 Day First Time Trip – advice?

Thanks for the advice in advance! I'm traveling to Japan for the first time with my girlfriend for 10 days this July. We're looking for advice on our itinerary as well as food, experience, and location recommendations.

Please let me know what you think about our current plans and if there are any “can’t miss” things we should add.

Day 1 (Tokyo to Kyoto):

  • Arrive in Tokyo in the morning.
  • Travel to Kyoto.
  • Explore Fushimi Inari Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
  • Stay: Kyoto

Day 2 (Kyoto to Osaka and back to Kyoto):

  • Early morning: Head to Osaka.
  • Explore Osaka Castle.
  • Visit Umeda Sky Building.
  • Discover Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan.
  • Stroll through Dotonbori area.
  • Attend Gamba Osaka vs. Shonan Bellmare football match at Panasonic Stadium Suita
  • Return to Kyoto after the game.
  • Stay: Kyoto

Day 3 (Kyoto):

  • Visit Nijo Castle.
  • Explore the Gion District.
  • Stay: Kyoto

Day 4 (Kyoto to Fuji Five Lakes):

  • Travel to Fuji Five Lakes in the morning.
  • Stay: Fuji Five Lakes

Day 5 (Fuji Five Lakes):

  • Walk around Lake Kawaguchi.
  • Relax at an onsen.
  • Possible bike ride around the lake.
  • Stay: Fuji Five Lakes

Day 6 (Fuji Five Lakes to Tokyo):

  • Travel to Tokyo.
  • Open to suggestions for activities (Considering Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple).
  • Stay: Tokyo

Day 7 (Tokyo):

  • Visit Nagashima Spa Land in the morning.
  • Evening suggestions (Considering Shibuya Crossing and Hachiko Statue).
  • Stay: Tokyo

Day 8 (Tokyo):

  • Visit Tsukiji Outer Market.
  • Explore Akihabara.
  • Enjoy nightlife in Shinjuku.
  • Stay: Tokyo

Day 9 (Tokyo):

  • Last-minute shopping.
  • Visit Tokyo National Museum.
  • Relax before departure.
  • Stay: Tokyo

Day 10 (Tokyo to Sydney)

Questions:

  1. Suggestions for activities on the first day in Tokyo (Day 6)?
  2. Evening activity suggestions for Day 7 in Tokyo?
  3. Any hidden gems or must-see spots we're missing?
