Does anyone here have experience owning or living in a house built in the early 2000s? The area we want to live in seems like it was built up around that time so that's what we have to work with if we don't build new.
I'm not expecting ZEH standards or anything like Ichijo and other builders we've looked at, but I've only ever lived in old-ass apartments and an old-ass house while here (maybe 70s or 80s?) so I'm hoping there were at least some improvements to insulation and such during those 20 years.
Our current place feels like a barn with a nice toilet so I don't really want to make a lateral move in that regard but a used house seems worth considering…? We're in Touhoku so I'm guessing window upgrades at a minimum, but I still don't feel like I know much about houses despite all the research.
