Electricity contract

When looking at electricity plans online, they list the base price of the contract and then it's pay per use.

The base price of the contract depends on the maximum power output you desire. Until now I've only had contracts that listed an amount of amperes. Since japan is 100V, you then just have to multiply the amperes by 100 to get the watts you can use. My current contract is 30A so 3000W max.

I'm moving soon, and when comparing plans, sometimes they offer a base contract in amperes, and sometimes using kVA. I'm not sure of the meaning of this. For instance, a contract at 6kVA, how is it different from a 60A, since both multiplication simply amount to 6kW?
