Static electricity is ruining my life

Do you have problems with static electricity at home or at office for work?

I do, I walk around the house in rubber flip-flops and from mid-September to early July (so for almost 9 months), walking around the house in them causes them to be charged with static electricity. As soon as I touch a metal thing like a tap, it's a guaranteed discharge and it hurts a lot.

So I walk barefoot at home to avoid this but it's very frustrating.

It seems to be due to the humidity because between early July and mid-September I don't have this problem. However, when the air becomes dry again it happens again and again.

From experience I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem here.

The tap material seems to be part of the problem. To my great dismay I've already tried 3 different types but it happens again and again …

Do you guys have a tip or a brand of tap to recommend to avoid this?
