I signed up for Biglobe’s Hikari service (IPV6) and got an automatically sent SMS stating “You can use it after connecting the device on Monday, June 3rd.”
I’m confused because I didn’t receive a device and I’m ignorant about this stuff without having done it before. I’m not sure but I guess they are referring to an ONU (Optical Network Unit / Optical Line Terminal Unit) that was supposed to be provided by them. When I applied, I opted out from renting a router and figured I just buy a router myself, but could that really be why I didn’t receive an ONU? If I understand correctly, this is the setup:
HIKARI PORT <-fiber cable-> ONU <-LAN cable-> ROUTER <-LAN cable-> PC
