Confused about prayer sticks

Hello everyone,

I visited the Fushimi inari shrine in Kyoto and bought a wooden prayer stick. However, I could not find any information on what it is and what I should do with it (they just laid on a table and could be taken for a donation of 200¥). Most people seemed to bring the small wooden torii to the shrines and just leave them there.

After some research, I think, what I have could be a buddhistic omagi, but then I am confused why it was sold at a Shinto shrine. Do I have to burn it or something like that?

Does anybody know?

Best wishes,
