Me and a friend will be traveling in Japan in August from the 10th until the 31st. We have planned a road trip by car from Tokyo to Hachinohe and will then be traveling through Hokkaido for 10 days, after which, we have planned to travel from Aomori back to Tokyo in 6 days. In order to go to Hokkaido we need a ferry and found Tsugaru Kaikyo Ferries. Reserving tickets in English is done through aferry here:
https://www.aferry.com/tsugaru-kaikyo-ferries/
We had planned to get a ticket on the 15th from Oma to Hakodate and a ticket from Hakodate to Aomori for the 24th. On their Japanese website, it is said that reservations for a ferry trip can be made exactly three months in advance so they should be available for purchase, however, this does not show-up on the website of aferry. I have confirmed on their Japanese reservation site that there are places available so they should be there.
Now come the questions:
- Does anyone know if the people at their callcenter are able to speak english?
- Can I reservate tickets through the Japanese reservation site? The names must be given in japanese characters. Does that mean we can put our names in hiragana or katakana there? This is the website: https://www.tsugarukaikyo.com/r301rsvEdit.aspx?A5XgJsvI0ZqTS3KzmIQjl1RgRVhffkCNz7kAHn9QbIfnXlOkJgiKwA%3d%3d
- Does anyone have an alternative? We have looked online but could only find Seikan Ferry which only travels between Aomori and Hakodate and it seems you can only buy tickets in Japanese/with Japanese residence. Here their website: https://www.seikan-ferry.co.jp/ . We have also looked at the FAQ but it wasn't any help sadly as the only ferries to Hokkaido are not close to where we will be at the time of our trip.
Thanks for any help in advance!
