I used to hate it when someone would come up to me at random on the street and start talking to me or asking me questions simply because I’m a foreigner. I used to pretend that I didn’t understand Japanese.
Went to the watch department at Isetan looking for them to adjust my watch strap. They were saying in Japanese that they could do it if I had bought it at Isetan (which I hadn’t). I pretended not to understand and finally they gave up and did it for me for free
When I got my driver’s license renewed they asked for my gaijin card. I showed it to them.
