Who else finds Japan to be a very ordinary place full of very ordinary people?

I live in Japan so this subreddit is just naturally thrown at me without me going looking for it. But the impression it gives with the stuff that pops up on my feed is that Japan is some kind racist hellscape of a country that foreigners are doomed to oppression in, when that's just not my experience at all with living here. I've lived in five other countries and have been here a total of five years and aside from pedestrians actually obeying traffic lights and a lack of public bins, it feels just like anywhere else. Honestly the way many people talk about Japan being racist in itself feels racist. Like, sure, not everyone here is perfect, but that's true of anywhere. On the whole the vast majority of people are very welcoming, friendly and understanding. Yet a lot of posts on this thread seem to tar the entire country based on individual anecdotal experiences.
