I already posted a single clip from this playlist earlier, but I then realized that the fulls series might be of interest to some subscribers of this subreddit. Once completed, it will be a 12 parts series on how to come to Japan for training purposes, starting from what to do prior to considering a visit to what will be needed should you eventually wish to move (semi) permanently in Japan.

I am creating this series based on my own personal experience after living in Japan for over 13 years. I moved to Japan in 2009 for the purpose of training. Since then, I have been working in a game development company, where I have frequently supported and advised foreign workers on matters of culture, visa, etc.

The series is currently half-completed. Upcoming episodes will be:

* Episode 7: Moving to Japan – making the decision
* Episode 8: Visa
* Episode 9: Occupation and daily life
* Episode 10: Leading the way – Responsibilities and expectations
* Episode 11: The dark side of living in Japan
* Episode 12: Permanent residency – should I stay or should I go?

The series was aimed at practitioner of the classical martial art I am specifically involved with, but I think can be valuable to practitioners of any martial arts (classical or modern).

I’d be happy to announce future releases should there be interest within the community for such content. Looking forward to your thoughts and feedback.

  1. What kind of visa do you have? I train martial arts and I would love to go train in Japan for a while but I don’t seem to find any suitable visa for that. Am I missing something?
