Hello All,
I’ve been putting together travel plans and wanted to see what the gay bars and districts in Japan are like.
I’ve blocked off a 4 week trip and plan on traveling to different cities and am more than happy to detour somewhere not planned! 🙂
Let me know if y’all have been somewhere fun as well, even if it’s not 100% relevant to my question.

Shinjuku ni-chome in Tokyo
Japan is not particularly LGBTQ+ friendly. If I had any recommendations I would give them. Good luck my friend.
Arty Farty, and Dragon Men. Both in Shinjuku ni-chome.
There are one or two in Tachikawa I believe but I don’t know there names. I can tell you the bars in Fussa, particularly Els Restaurant and Bar are absolutely friendly to the gay community. It isn’t exclusively for the community but it’s accepting and welcoming for sure. I think many bars close to US military bases are also accepting and have no issue with the community. That would be Yokosuka Navy Base, Atsugi Navy Base, Camp Zama Army Base, and Yokota Air Force Base off the top of my head.
Shinjuku 2ー丁目 as people mentioned.
I’m not gay but been there with my gay friend a couple of times. Had a good time.
There’s also a place in Shibuya somewhere that does drag shows sometimes but I have no idea where it is because I got so drunk. Sorry.
