  1. Very minimal supervision.

    > “The key is to have a sponsor in Japan, like a travel agency, and that they know the whereabouts of the traveler on a given day,” the official said.

    > With the eased restrictions, the only tourists who won’t be allowed will be those who want to stay in accommodations not offered by travel agencies in their “package tours,” such as private rentals and smaller inns.

I wonder if the government will crack down on travel agents offering zero oversight for the quick buck.

  2. In line with embassies like London changing the way they do visa appointments from the 2nd September.

  3. This works for me, as long as it’s affordable!

I have no problem providing an itinerary in advance as long as I’m allowed to do the things I want to do: eat, see concerts, walk around and explore, eat some more.

I have no problem if the agency chooses my hotels as long as they’re in the correct city.

    Sign me up!

  4. So I guess I won’t be seeing my girlfriend and meeting her parents till spring now (my flights got cancelled anyway by my airline), at least she can enter Australia no problem.

  5. This headline doesn’t make sense. Japan has not clarified anything. The new rules have not yet been published. This article seems to be taking some vague statements from an unnamed official and extrapolating meaning from it.

  6. “as long as they book flights and accommodation through a travel agency…”

What the hell do travel agents have in the way of qualifications?
