Im a student with student visa in Japan and I have been living here less than 5 years. In 2023 my mom sent me money with western union the amount exceeds the 1.1 million gift tax which I did know about until today. I want to know if the total amount or the amount exceeding the 1.1 million is taxable and I past the deadline for tax filing which was 15 March. Will it cause me any problems other than penalties? My visa, school registration etc
