Best way to tell is to open it up and brew it. Good Sencha should be a light but vibrant spring green with a fresh grassy fragrance. Make sure you cool the water a bit first (I usually pour boiling water into a cold mug or glass measuring cup first to before adding it to a tea pot). If the water is too hot it will make the tea taste astringent.
I’d guess that r/tea would be a great place to ask. That sub collectively knows everything about tea.
