Planning on going to Okinawa at the end of next month with my gf. Been living here for awhile but it’s my first time (she’s Japanese and has been, but probably like 15 years ago)
Plan is to spend the first night in Naha, go to Miyako the next day and spend two nights there, then come back to Naha the last day and fly back to Tokyo in the evening.
While I’ve mostly decided on what we’ll do in Miyako, we’re still kinda deciding for Naha. We’ll have a car the first day for about 8 hours, so I’m thinking we’ll drive north and check out some places like Cape Manzamo and others on the way. Given the amount of time we have, I don’t think that both Churaumi and Shurijo will both be doable, but we can probably fit one in.
I’ve always been more interested in Shurijo, but considering it burned down a few years back, I’m wondering if I might be better off skipping it this time and maybe seeing it in a few years instead. But for anyone who has been to both, I’d love to hear your input on which is more worth going to.
Side note, if anyone has random local food suggestions for Naha or Miyako feel free to share (I’ve got a bunch of restaurants listed, but haven’t decided on any “must gos” yet
TLDR: If i can only do one, should i do Churaumi Aquarium or Shuri Caslte when i visit Okinawa?
