My mother-in-law has hinted that one or the other of my husband’s grandmothers may pass away soon, and to make sure I have a black outfit ready. She told me that as long as it’s black, it should be ok.
I don’t currently have any black dresses on hand, and I don’t have a body type that’s easy to shop for in Japan. I like to sew, so I thought about making one.
As long as it’s matte black, has a high neckline, is longer than knee length, doesn’t have ornamentation, it should be ok, right?
I notice that most of them are made from poly or some blended suiting material. Is it ok to use cotton or linen? I’m not going to make a flowy beach dress or anything, but I would prefer working in a natural fiber.
