I'm in the early stages of planning my honeymoon in japan for 18 full days (+2 half days for the flights) in mid nov to Dec 3rd . We will be arriving and leaving from Tokyo and I was thinking of taking the hokuriku arch line either to or from kyoto and using the tokkaido line the other way making a circle from Tokyo to kyoto and back.
I'm trying to find stops along the hokuriku line (and other lines covered by to hokuriku arch pass) between Omiya and Tsuruga. What are some good stations, in your opinion, to stop at that would be good to visit for a half day or full day to explore near the station, which stops that will need a full day for additional travel but worth it and which are ones you'd skip.
So far know I want to visit kanazawa and I was thinking about Nagano but a lot of things I've found to do there are quite far from the station and spread out.
