After a family member passes away you have a ceremony during obon where a priest comes and says a mantra and you eat a meal together. This happens every couple years. This was our lunch yesterday. Delivered to the house and dishes picked up later. Not pictured is flavored rice and miso soup. About 4000 yen for each person.
