So I’ve been working full-time at a company in Tokyo(teaching English) since October 2018. I started with 10 days holiday (after the 6 months mark) but have since received no increase in paid holiday. Years later it’s still stuck at just 10 days (which is probably why I’m so depressed living and working here). Recently a staff member learnt that employees must be granted additional days off if there is continuous employment, which none of us have been receiving and I wasn’t even aware of until now. My coworker spoke to my boss about it and she only reacted ad hominem, implying my coworker was mean for bringing it up and that it wasn’t mindful of her (my bosses) “feelings”. I have since researched and printed out the labor standards act etc, to present to my boss who is coming for a meeting on Thursday. Does anyone have any advice or been in a similar situation? We calculated it and I am supposed to be receiving 18 days off this year but I’m still stuck at 10. I’ve also missed out on 14 days off from previous years that I think I can no longer claim…
Anyway, is this all correct and what do you think?
Tl;dr:
full time employed at a company for 5-6 years
still at just 10 days annual leave even though it’s supposed to increase each year
boss seems to think it’s out of line to even bring this up
I want my days off!!! What do I do 🙁
(There are many dodgy things with this company, we also never receive health check up and no help with pension and health tax…)
