Say if Shibata ends up working FD (I know there’s a lot of talk online bout NJPW now wanting him to really work their shows), who would you want to see face him from the NJPW roster?
To me, the most likely guys and/or what I want to see are as follows:
Ren Narita – the one with the most built-in and logical story; Shibata being Narita’s trainer and the man Narita was tied to the most (even being called “mini-Shibata”); now, with the heel edge he has gained as apart of HOT, Narita vs Shibata would have a completely different dynamic from their WK 17 match.
Gabe Kidd – another of Shibata’s LA DOJO “boys” and the one who, imo, represents Shibata the most, even as apart of BC; Kidd has that same vicious attitude and disrespectful persona that Shibata had as a younger man; would be glorious to see these two try to destroy one another.
Yuya Uemura – yet another of Shibata’s LA DOJO “boys”, and the one to most recently call Shibata out (once he won the KOPW belt); would be a good opportunity to showcase Uemura by having him defend the belt against his former mentor, Shibata.
KENTA – one of the biggest stories/matchups that was teased in NJPW that I desperately want resolved; ever since that fateful G1 2019 night, where KENTA joined BC and betrayed his “soulmate”, Shibata, I’ve wanted to see the two face off; both men may be “past their prime” but it still would hit on an emotional level.
