I've been thinking lately about the state of all of New Japan units. Bullet Club a shallow husk merely used for the name brand alone, CHAOS basically being dead with the departure of Kazuchika Okada, the death of Suzuki-Gun still being felt 2 years later. And it's got me thinking, what new units could rise from all these ashes to lead the next generation of NJPW. Then I thought to myself, why think of a new unit when I can simply revive one long since forgotten.
The revival of the most dominant faction of the 2000s, Togi Makabes Great Bash Heel.

With Makabe and Honma slowly getting older and getting closer to riding off into that strong spirit sunset, the flag that the two of them have carried completely by themselves for 15 years is in danger of dying completely. This is why I've thought up an idea for some of New Japans most recent young lion graduates out on excursion to be brought into a one great fold and taught by the Unchained Gorilla himself in the art of extreme violence to carry on the next generation. I've even brought in an American representative in the ever lovable Mad King Eddie Kingston, who probably prays to a statue of Toshiaki Kawada every night before bed and is also, an extreme nutball. Perhaps Eddie could even serve as a short term leader for the group if none of the young guns are yet ready for the task by the time Makabe hangs his chain up for good.
A good unit would be a great way to give a still very capable Makabe something to cling to in his final years as well as ingratiate the new boys into the New Japan fold under the lead of a former IWGP Heavyweight champion. It may even be an avenue for other faction members seeking somewhere they can be given a bigger spot. Plus imagine the story's it could create. Imagine a tag league matchup where Ishii and Yano come across this new incarnation of the faction they once turned their backs on, featuring new blood ready to show them the violence they once showed others way back when
